Subelle is a subtitle editor for Mac. The waveform shows where the characters speak: select a line with the mouse, press Return, and the subtitle is created, timed to the millisecond.
- Create subtitles from a video alone: Subelle listens to the dialogue and splits it into subtitles already timed to the voice, following your settings for line length, reading speed and shot changes. Everything happens on your Mac, without the internet.
- Translate subtitles from another language: each sentence is translated as a whole on your Mac, then spread over the original's timings. The original stays visible in purple while you polish the translation.
- Shot changes are detected automatically, and subtitle edges snap to them.
- Check your work before delivery: durations, reading speed, line length, overlaps, edges too close to a shot change, and spelling.
- Open subtitle tracks embedded in MKV and MP4 files, for editing or as the original, and choose the audio track to hear.
- Formats: SRT, WebVTT, ASS and SSA subtitles; MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI and WebM videos.
- Projects keep the video, subtitles, original, shot changes and window layout in one file, with a backup copy if the app quits unexpectedly.
- Available in English, French, Spanish, Italian, German and Portuguese (Brazil).
